Who we are
Cite Lit is a trading name of a company registered in the Netherlands. You can reach us at hello@citelit.com.
Who can buy
You must be 18 or over to buy a pass. Students use Cite Lit through the link a parent, carer or teacher gives them. We do not ask students for any personal information, so there is no minimum age for using a link. If you buy a pass, you pass the student link on and make sure the student knows the fair use rules below.
What a pass gives you
- Access to every GCSE set text on Cite Lit, starting with The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, and to each one we add while the pass lasts.
- The pass lasts 12 months from purchase, or until the end of the student's GCSE exams, whichever is later. When it ends, access stops and nothing more is charged.
- One pass is for one household. You receive a sign-in link by email and a separate link to forward to the student.
Price and payment
A pass costs £29, paid once, including VAT. It is not a subscription and never renews. Payment is taken at checkout by our payment provider, Stripe. Your receipt shows the seller of record.
Refunds and cancelling
You can cancel and have a full refund within 14 days of buying, for any reason, even if you have used the pass. This includes, and goes further than, your legal right to cancel. Any clear message is enough, by email to hello@citelit.com; you do not need a form. See Refunds.
Teachers and class links
Class links are free. A teacher who creates one is responsible for sharing it only with their class. Class links are for teaching, and we are not responsible for any business losses connected with them.
What Cite Lit is, and is not
Cite Lit shows what the book says and where it says it: quotes with their speaker and chapter, who is who, the story so far and who knew what, up to the chapter you choose. It does not write essays or model answers, predict exam questions or promise grades. It is not endorsed by or connected with any exam board. Always check your exam board's specification and your teacher's guidance. If the book does not answer a question, Cite Lit says so.
Fair use
- Use Cite Lit for your own household's study, or a class's study through a teacher's class link.
- Do not copy, scrape or download Cite Lit's content in bulk, by hand or by software, or resell or republish it.
- Do not use Cite Lit's content to train, fine-tune or test any artificial intelligence system, and do not feed it into one in bulk. We reserve our rights to text and data mining of Cite Lit's content.
- Do not share your sign-in link outside your household. We may end a pass that is used in breach of these terms, and refund the unused part.
Book text
The book text comes from public domain editions. Quotes keep the punctuation of the edition we use, which can differ slightly from a printed copy. Our selection, arrangement and notes are our own work.
Our responsibility
We work to make every quote and fact match the book. If something is wrong, tell us and we will fix it. We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. If something we supply damages a device or other digital content of yours because we did not use reasonable care and skill, we will repair the damage or compensate you. We are not responsible for business losses. Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer.
Which law applies
If you live in the UK, the law of the part of the UK where you live applies, and you can bring a claim in your local courts. Otherwise Dutch law applies, and you keep the protections of the law of the country where you live.
Changes
If we change these terms, the version that applied when you bought still covers your pass.
